Back as Head Brewer at Woodforde’s Brewery in the Broads is Neil Bain who’s looking forward to rolling up his sleeves and getting stuck in. He tells us his plans…

I am thrilled to return to Woodforde’s once again, particularly with the new branding, the investment in the business and it’s strong portfolio of beers.

With a growing appetite for stronger brews, a continuation in trend of variety and choice of beers as well as pale ales and IPA’s still ruling supreme, then we have a great calendar of beers lined up for the year ahead to ensure we have some old favourites mixed in with some new limited editions that we’re really excited to bring to you.

Dark beers are still popular at present in the winter months and our Norfolk Nog continues to be a firm favourite and you can now even find it in our recent partnership with Walsingham Farm Shops where it features in their venison pie and its absolutely delicious if I do say so myself (available at our brewery tap daily and also all Walsingham Farms Shops). We also have our Admirals Reserve available from January to March, which is a beautiful copper coloured ale with notes of almonds, sultanas and sherry- a firm favourite of ours and we only produce the best for the admiral! and finally our seasonal session ale, Simcoe Pale, a citrusy flavoured, straw coloured beer, which is crisp and easy drinking and its here until the end of March so make sure you pop into your local for a pint before it goes!

With Pale Ales and IPA’s still king, fans of our Reedlighter ale and Norada keg beer continue to grow and have enabled them both to become part of the Woodforde’s iconic core range after starting as seasonal beers. With the continuing taste for IPA’s across the industry we have some great limited editions coming out across the year, starting with our flaming Fury IPA, an American style at 5.5% ABV sure to tantalise the taste buds.

Continuing on the Winter theme and darker beers, we have the GBBF Norwich beer festival fast approaching at the end of the month, where we have some of our iconic favourites including Nog, Nelsons and Once Bittern as well as our core range and limited edition seasonal doing the rounds in the pubs for the Norwich fringe festival so keep your eyes peeled for the range. With the 19th instalment of the 6 Nations nearly upon us and a firm favourite in our sporting calendar, we have produced an exclusive 6 nations beer that we’ve worked on in conjunction with the EI Group, called ‘Nice Try’, which will be available across selected pubs in their estate during the competition, which we’re really proud to get behind and support as ale and rugby go hand in hand. Keep an eye on our social channels for the fixtures and don’t forget to stock up on the beers…

We also have a really strong line up of events this year where we’ll be focusing on growing the brand and beer presence especially since rolling out nationally last year following the re-brand with Norfolk’s favourite son, Nelson. Keep your eyes peeled for events and taster events on our social media channels as well as information about our very own Woodforde’s beer festival later this year, new collaborations and competitions to win our beer.
